Forests in Thailand

Thailand is located in the Oriental Realm or Indomalaya ecozone, one of the most biogeographically diverse zone in the world. The forests in Thailand are categorized into 10 types, defined by climate and topography as coniferous forests, hill evergreen forests, tropical rain forests, dry evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests, deciduous dipterocarp forests, peat swamp forests, mangrove swamp forests, beach forests and savanna.

These forests are the birthplace of a number of medicinal plant species in Thailand.
